Measure On The Go

Pokit PRO

DIYODE Magazine

Issue 28, November 2019

In Issue 7 (Jan. 2018), we described the tiny Pokit wireless multimeter that makers could pair with their phone to test low voltage circuits without the need for expensive and bulky test gear. It is also a digital oscilloscope and data logger, and small enough to attach to a set of keys! Thousands of units have sold since their successful Kickstarter campaign in 2017.

The clever folk at Pokit Innovations are back with a second product - the Pokit PRO, which has improved features based on user feedback from the original pokitMeter.

The Pokit PRO is a full-featured multimeter, accurately measuring AC/DC voltage, AC/DC current, resistance, and ambient temperature, as well as checking continuity and diodes. Its 600V RMS voltage range also enables experienced users to measure higher-voltages used around the home, lighting, automotive and other electronics work.

The enhanced oscilloscope functionality supports multichannel use, connecting up to four devices simultaneously. Waveforms can be captured, displayed in real-time on a smartphone, and then saved for export to a CSV file. You can even perform an FFT spectrum analysis directly within the app! The open-source API lets users create their own pokit integrated apps too.

The stand-alone data logger function can monitor temperature, voltage or current waveforms for a period up to 6 months, even without connection to a phone.

It has a compact, durable and water-resistant design. It is rechargeable via USB and even has an integrated torch!

The Pokit PRO will have an RRP of US$129, which equates to just under A$200. Considering that this is a multimeter, oscilloscope and data logger in one, it’s a fantastic price.

We wish the Pokit team every success with their campaign. We look forward to getting our hands on the Pokit PRO in the future to test it out.
