To ensure everyone can enjoy the amazing content within DIYODE Magazine, we’ve made some changes to our subscriptions. These changes are made automatically, so no specific action is required from you. However, it’s important you’re aware of the changes, so here’s the low down on what’s happening…

Unexpectedly, it seems that popularity can be challenging.

Recently we discovered that the interactive PDF version of our magazine was being uploaded to various file sharing sites; but it wasn’t just available, we were trending among popular downloads at various times! While this is something we’re happy about to a certain extent, it does present certain challenges for our resources and growth.

While we have the technology to trace a single PDF back to its account of origin, most of the time the PDF was simply shared with a friend, and then somewhere along the line it was distributed, even unintentionally. We’ve spoken with a number of readers who were often unknowingly the source of an illegal distribution, and while some have suggested that we bolster security by taking additional counter measures to secure our PDFs against piracy, in reality, that’s not who we are.

So, we’ve come up with a plan…

To enable makers everywhere to become involved with the DIYODE community, we’ve decided to unlock our digital content on our website. This means all our articles and downloads are now accessible online for free, although this content will be heavily ad-supported.

We want to encourage like-minded people from around the world to discuss and share our content, and we want to include those makers who can’t afford a few dollars for our magazine right now; they might read and be inspired by one of our projects, and one of them just might just be the next Elon Musk, who changes the world – now wouldn’t that be something?

Alternatively, you can buy a Premium Digital Membership.

If you find in-content advertising annoying (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?), you may like to support DIYODE Magazine by becoming a Premium Digital Member, which is available from just $3.30 per month. Membership provides additional benefits and functionality, such as:
